Round One: Rules & FAQ + AO3 Collection
Oct. 8th, 2019 07:07 amFortune Favors is a fest inspired by the Tarot, where the prompts themselves are Tarot cards personally generated for you by me, the mod.
The almost finalized Rules and FAQ are as follows (almost because questions, clarifications, and suggestions regarding them are still being taken until sign-ups officially begin).
—
The rules are now final.
SIGN UPS:
☆ At the time sign-ups open, a post on the DW comm will go live. There will be a template signup that must be followed and submitted in the comments. More details will follow when that post goes live.
☆ All comments on the sign-up post will be screened and will not be unscreened. [Note: if you want to sign up and don't have a DW account, please email the mod your signup instead— (any anon comment made will not be able to be accessed again)].
☆ Any one individual can ask for up to three assignments. It is your choice how many assignments you request and how many works you want to create for any assignment. One assignment does not have to equal one fanwork!
☆ There is no penalty for 'defaulting' ( not creating anything for the fest even after asking for an assignment(s) ).
ASSIGNMENTS:
☆ When it comes time for assignments to go out, they will be sent out in the order that signups were received.
☆ Everyone will receive three cards. Now, what is done with them is entirely up to the individual. Whether only one card is used or all three are, again, up to you. If multiple cards are used, the spread you use is also up to you.
POSTING:
☆ You do not have to post to the AO3 collection if you do not wish to. [Note: please get in contact with me if you would like to make an AO3 account for the fest].
☆ However, because this fest has an anon period, if you plan to post outside of the AO3 Collection, please refrain from doing so until the anon period has ended.
☆ If you opt-out of the anon period and want to post to the AO3 Collection, the same standard applies. The collection will be reopened temporarily for 24 hours after reveals to allow for this.
☆ [Only if not using AO3] Comment your fill under your assignment (or email me if you signed up without a DW account). Your entry will be added to the fanwork summary posted at the end of the fest.
☆ The collection closes a day before work reveals. No late additions will be accepted into the collection.
GUIDELINES:
☆ The default deck is expected for their corresponding round, so if you choose to use a different one, please specify that in the notes and/or tags of your work. Of course, what cards you have chosen are expected to be in the notes and/or tags as well!
☆ Works do not have to be in English. This fest is all languages inclusive.
☆ Fic (can be Original Work): 1,000+ words. Fic can be whatever fandom, ship, rating meets your fancy.
☆ Art: a complete piece on unlined paper.
☆ Podfic: must follow general fic guidelines.
☆ Fanmix: 8+ songs.
☆ Fanvid, AMV, etc.: 1 minute 30 seconds +

Date: 2019-10-08 06:27 pm (UTC)I'm not sure I understand this. Do you mean that we shouldn't post to ao3 or to DW before the anon period is over?
If it would make it easier, you can choose to have the ao3 collection set to anon until you choose to reveal it, and screen DW comments until the same moment. But, as far as I know, DW doesn't have an option to hide usernames from comments , unless you post anonymously, so the fills posted here wouldn't be anon, unless everyone posted as such, while the ones posted at ao3 could be until reveals.
Maybe the anon period could be reconsidered? I mean, since this is a fest and not an exchange? If it helps, all the DW fests i've taken part in didn't have an anon period. People posted their fills, which where hidden until the comments were unscreened.
I hope this was somewhat helpful! I'm so excited for this!

Date: 2019-11-17 07:18 pm (UTC)Currently, the rules for Round One only allow for new work.
However, you can bring this up when the discussion post for the Round Two Rules goes up and the community can decide then!
You're very welcome! :)
